{"text":"Heed this warning about Stevens Transport\nFor any new driver looking for a company to start with, be wary about Stevens.\n\nI've been driving for this company for several years (senior driver) and the company is falling apart from the inside out. The pay wasn't good to begin with when I started, they've since raised it to get more new hires, but won't give out corresponding raises for the rest of the fleet.\n\nI used to run a dedicated route for a few years, but have gone back to OTR over the last year and it's been absolute hell. I've spent many weekends sitting, waiting for dispatch. That might not sound bad, but if you have a mortgage and other bills, that adds up fast.\n\nDispatcher, when they do finally get around to giving you a load, they either want you to run it while you're tired (they don't care about you sleep schedule), or they want you to run it with low hours and possibly getting an HOS violation. I've gotten into many arguments with dispatchers over the last year about trying to force me to drive while sleepy. They're putting lives on the line when they try to bully drivers. I don't stand for it and because of that, I'm averaging roughly 2500 miles a week, which is a joke. When I ran a team dedicated truck and route, we ran over 7k miles a week. Only ever late due to a shipper taking longer than they should.\n\nThe \"old heads\", as I like to call them, are retiring. Stevens is hiring new, inexperienced, dispatchers and they're on an ego trip right now and everyone is hurting because of this. I've spoken with several other senior drivers and they've all said the same thing. The company is in decline. Hardly any of the new dispatchers that Stevens has on payroll have ever been behind the wheel and don't know what they're doing when it comes to handling a truck or a fleet.\n\nIf you join on with Stevens, make sure you cover your ass. Invest in a dash cam (they'll hang you out to dry if you get into an accident that wasn't your fault), record ALL of your phone calls you have with dispatch, that way you can have proof that someone verbally told you to do something, also have them send you a message over the Qualcomm if they agree to pay you a certain amount for a load.\n\nI'll be leaving this company, unfortunately, for a local route with Walmart in a few months making more money. If you can find something better than Stevens.....take it. This company is in a bad way right now.\n","videos":"[]","link":"{}","pics":"[]","canComment":true}
