ideas of backin... still struggling with it... how long should take to be really good at it? please need ure thought

Learn how to set up so the truck does the work of jacking the trailer into a spot without fighting with the steering wheel, which is the most common mistake a new driver tends to do. One more thing- nobody out here gives a d@mn about pull ups. I personally don't care how many times you pull up while backing in, just don't hit anything. Just be safe. Example\naim your tandems for the yellow paint. if need be put mark on the ground..rock or stick and use that as a point of reference. or even track marks left by other trucks..follow those with your tandems\n.beware of your overhang as well.  when steering give it a little extra time for the trailer to react . come out of a turn too soon it screws you up. .\nIDLE SPEED... let the engine do the work. no need to gun it.. \ntakes practice. some days I can blindside in one shot\nothers I couldn't straight line to save my life","replyToPid":0}

Seeing that I started in Chicago and run out of the rails, I knew it was imperative. If you ever feel like you’re struggling, see if your company can get you with a trainer for a day or 2. If not, pick some of the more difficult spots, take your time, get out and look as much as you need, but don’t give up!!! Too many drivers look for easy access spots or situations that allow them to pull through. That will do nothing but hinder you, because we all know, there are many situations that will really put your backing skills to the test and leave you with no alternative. Hang in there! The ones that give me the biggest problem is when it’s wide open docks at an angle with no lines. Looks straight in the mirror get out and look way off so annoying. ","replyToPid":0}

{"replyTo":"","text":"one other thing to add, if you're setups wrong and you're struggling sometimes you're just better off to pull back out and start from scratch. in a tight dock you can sit there going back and forth moving the trailer over a couple inches at a time forever or just pull out and take a better line in so you're closer to where you need to be. this is also a great time to let any drivers that are waiting to get past you to get to their own docks sneak by. we appreciate it and believe me we get it because we've all been there at one time or another but nother irritates me more than waiting for a guy that's struggling for 20-30 minutes so I can get by to get to my dock when all they have to do is stop for a couple seconds and give me a wave  so I can sneak by. \n\nalso don't be afraid to ask another driver for help. whether you need someone to spot for you or just give you some pointers. I've been asked many times to help and I've never said no just like most of us on here. to this day ill still ask others to let me know if I'm getting to close to something that's on my blind side on the really tight backs. always nice piece of mind knowing there's another set of eyes watching for the just incase.","replyToPid":0}
