{"replyTo":"","text":"Here’s a couple of things\n1. Once you pick a company stay a year. No matter how bad it seems wait a year and look at your pay statement. If it’s not what you think is fair change companies. Do NOT jump from company to company. \n2. Your dispatcher will make or break your love for your job. Strike a balance between willingness to go the extra mile (legally) and putting your foot down and saying no. \n3. Get a box of 3x5 index cards and write directions to any facility you pick up at or deliver to. GPS may not always work. A pen and paper does. \n4. Your job is to drive. So do that. Don’t sit around at the truck stops all day watching tv and chatting with others. \n5. REST!!! This is the MOST important aspect of being an OTR driver. Turn off the tv, phone, tablet, game console, etc. Get in the bed and SLEEP!\n6. Exercise when you can. DOT mandates a 30 min break within 8 hours of starting your day. Walk 20 min of it. \n7. SHOWER!!  No one wants to be around a driver that stinks so bad that you want to vomit. (Sadly, there are a out out there)\n8. Keep plenty of pens handy. A notebook too. \n9. Keep your paperwork organized. Nothing is worse than not being able to find something you desperately need. \n10. Keep your truck clean both inside and out. Just remember when that happens to keep cool and don't lose your head because that's when you will make mistakes, and they always make a bad day worse.","replyToPid":0}

{"replyTo":"","text":"Aside from fundamental truck driving, go over your routes twice or three times, use live traffic, google maps is free for live traffic and finding truck entrances to shippers and receivers, use trucker path for stops of any kind as well as low clearances. Stay away from unnatural sugars, i cant stress this enough. Do not go home every 3 to 5 weeks, your ability to make means will take a big hit.","replyToPid":0}
