so my fuel light went on and I have a hundred miles to go does anyone know how many miles these trucks can go

Sludge does not accumulate in the bottom of fuel tank, (unless it's intentionally put there), and you can't just suck it up into the engine.\nNor is it a safety thing... Diesel fuel is combustible not flammable, it does not explode for shits and giggles.\nThe amount in the bottom of a diesel fuel tank is not enough to set off the earth shattering KABOOM you have envisioned after introducing air to the fumes... Reason being... Air is already in the tank, tanks are vented. 2 reasons... 1, so the tank don't collapse as fuel is sucked out of it. 2, to prevent the rapid introduction of air thus causing the explosion some highly scientific drivers believe would happen.","replyToPid":0}

{"replyTo":"","text":"it is wise to get a feel for your trucks mileage and your driving style. most trucks have a trip meter and a leg meter. I reset my leg meter everytime I fuel. when I fuel, I fuel all the way. on my truck that's about 200 gallons. my truck averages abut 6.8 to 7.4 depending on where I run & load size. I try to never fall below 50 gallons on the truck.( I only reset the trip meter when I go home for hometime. ) never let your tank get down into the red/lights on if you can help it. one it's a maintenance thing: sludge accumulates at the bottom, you'll suck it up into the engine. two it's a safety thing. if you are in an accident with near empty tanks the possibility of explosion goes up, the fuel to air ratio is more conducive to ignition than full tanks. full tanks = less air. yes there is more diesel to clean up, but you might escape because the fuel tanks didn't explode.","replyToPid":0}
