Does that mean truckers aren't making a profit and just breaking even? Or are they running at a loss? There is a payment.  These new trucks have nothing but def issues.  If your not mechanically inclined. That means you must hire it out. That. cuts your profit. There is taxes and insurance.  Another big Headache.  Now when you want time off. You take it. If you own truck you can't. Because every month the bank is waiting on your payment.  Then the economy is terrible as we all know.  Freight is cheap and weak. Fuels prices, Insurance, truck prices everything going upward except freight rate. Also, Keep in mind lot of big brokerage companies won't work with you if you have a new MC.","replyToPid":0}

Some of the policy rates are egregiously high w/ barely of the coverage. Rates are so low, you’ll be asking why did I even get into this. Brokers can’t even decide what apps work best so now you got 50 apps that do the same thing and don’t even work, cus they’ll call 4x a day til delivery. These lumper companies, I’m PRAYING, on their downfall. So much I cant wait til they are illegal. \nBut I digress…","replyToPid":0}

Been driving 36 years, and it's gone back to the old ways where the trucking industry gets hit with losses when all other businesses have to pay more out to their employees. Shippers/Receivers cut truck rates to compensate what they have to put out elsewhere. if you don't mind harder work, pulling evonic tanker loads always pays good up there in Superior WI. a frie d of mine works there and gets a raise every year. Is it tight and difficult at the moment? YES. Will it change? YES. Better or worse?? Don't know. IF you are single, easy. If you have a life partner, you best prepare them to be without you for a while. This O/O thang ain't for everybody and if you think your gonna get rich quick, or at all, THINK AGAIN. Lots and I mean LOTS of hard, determined work to be successful. Working on your own truck to save precious dollars. Going without so your family doesn't know how rough you're having it. {"replyTo":"","text":"It honestly depends on your personal situation. if your personal finances are in good shape and you have some money saved for down payment and to operate on to get started…AND you’re good at budgeting and finance, you can gain some valuable experience. Yes, the profit margins will be very low but the market will come back at some point. It’s more a question of when. It’s difficult right now with rates being so low and expenses being high but I’m of the mindset that if you can make it work and make a profit during the hard times, you’re going to do even better during the good times.","replyToPid":0}

{"replyTo":"","text":"I myself just took the leap to be an \nO/O and and starting on the road just this week. I’ve learned a lot as I’ve started this process a couple months ago. I still have yet to learn more but if I can give you the key points are. 1 make sure this is what you want first and foremost. People like in the comment section will tell you the bad points right off the bat which is good a reality check. 2 SAVE YOUR MONEY, make your you have a good amount saved and I mean good. Minimum $20k. Down payment, LLC formation, your drug and alc, meaning you’ll need an agent etc insurance for fees list is on and on lol PS don’t quit your job too early trust me 😅 after you’ve got through that wall now is the next one. Getting loads I would highly highly recommend you get on with a carrier under their authority cause like one fellas said brokers won’t want to work with you since your so new. Liability and covid kinda lowkey screwed is up for us since there was scamming and the industry became so saturated. Plenty of carriers hiring “O/O” quotes cause your technically are but that use lightly with the situation. Research! Good luck!","replyToPid":0}
