{"replyToPid":0,"replyTo":"","text":"I’ve always thought mountains are overrated. Nothing to worry about unless the pavement is slippery from ice and snow. Start out going slow down hill and use the number 3 position on the jake brake. Stay off your service brakes as much as possible. When you use the service brakes press hard on the pedal for three seconds at the most. Then let off the brakes and let the jake brake do the work. Never ride the service brakes going downhill. Slow down before a curve. Just play it safe and don’t worry about the super truckers passing you and going fast (that would be me 😂)!"}

{"replyTo":"","text":"Always park on the off ramp and rest stops first. I need to get a spot at the truck stop after work. Lol \n\nIt’s good to be openly concerned as a rookie. Ask a ton of questions, learn your map. Not the fancy electrical kind.. the Rand. Can’t call yourself a trucker if you need GPS. Don’t get me wrong, I like my gadgets. But I def can read/calculate routes with my map and don’t need gps to get home from anywhere.  ","replyToPid":0}

{"replyTo":"","text":"You Can't completely avoid mountains.\n1. Stick to the interstate. Slopes are rarely extreme on the interstates(there are some exceptions). \n2. Take it slow! You can go down a slope too slow many times. You can only go down too fast once.\n3. Generally the speed you go up a hill is the speed you want to go down. However, sometimes the opposite slope will be significantly different.\n4.  Assuming you have an automatic the cruise control should mostly maintain speed. If your RPM gets close to 2, 000 hit the service brake, slow down 5 or 10mph and reset the cruise to the new speed.\nDo NOT ride the brake!!! \nLet the engine do most of the braking.","replyToPid":0}
