Maintaining Relationships

{"text":"Does anyone else have a problem maintaining their relationships out here? I'm not talking the ' significant other ' type either, I have already deemed that as a lost cause for myself. Over the years my friendship circle and even my relationship with my family has struggled. I have always struggled with conversations, but now I might as well be a brick wall. {"replyTo":"","text":"Yes Tylera, \nIt’s not that you’re not loved or important or thought of anymore, people just get all wrapped up in their own world and you are not there with them down the street, or next door, or across town to witness it. Also, they probably don’t want to dump a bunch of stress on you since you’re driving. I’m sure they are only a phone call away dear. It gets lonely out here and as we drive hundreds of miles, our minds wonder to places and think things that can cause us to believe in situations that are not true. This is one of them. You have to remember that you are loved and important and that will never change. You’re in my prayers dear. 🤗","replyToPid":0}

I now force myself to text friends and family when I'm being live loaded/unloaded and right as I'm shutting down for the night. I also call them while driving. Just catch up when you can and force yourself to keep your connections alive.","replyToPid":0}

{"replyTo":"","text":"I hear ya tylera! Maintaining relationships is difficult OTR! Even if you’re out only 5 or 6 days and home for two days! OTR is just a different can of worms! But I still think it’s the lesser of two evils if you changed careers and ended up with a job where you’re home everyday but in a job you hate like being stuck in a shop or office all day and being miserable! I’ve done both! And even though I realize I’m paying a price by being away from home and less contact with people and maintaining relationships, at least I don’t hate my job being a truck driver!
