Lowering your landing gear!

I always lowered landing gear till it hits the ground and then turn crank handle one or two times after the feet hit the ground! The other day I saw a driver lowering it until the feet were 1 or 2 inches off the ground and then he stopped! I happened to ask him why he didn’t lower it so the feet are touching the ground! He said that’s how it’s supposed to be done! I thought, hmmm, I was always taught the other way! \n\nSo the question is are you supposed to lower the landing gear until the feet are 1 or 2 inches away from the ground?","videos":"[]","link":"{}","pics":"[]","canComment":true,"externalShare":false}

If it's for a drop and hook  leave the 2 inch space. this allows the next truck to lift the trailer off the ground. No one wants to slow crank a loaded trailer in the cold or rain because the landing gear lifted the trailer too high.","replyToPid":0}

I walked over and ask why??🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️ he said he was over on trailer. He didn't know difference between king pin and trailer slide","replyToPid":0}

{"replyTo":"","text":"Me i lower mine until imy airbags on my truck start raising then dump my air to make sure the ground can hold the weight its alot less stress n your equipment to do it this way you shouldn’t have to use your truck to raise trailer only a lazy Mfer does it that way ","replyToPid":0}

You also get out of trailer slowly just in case the landing gear fails to hold trailer you have chance to catch it.  \nYou don’t need to drop airbag to get out of trailer! \nYou’re already locked to king pin so what’s point of dropping airbags?  The whole point of dropping/raising airbag is just so you can level up with king pin or not go under it. \n\nThe landing gear handle needs to be locked only when driving. When you’re dropping trailer it doesn’t have to be locked in place. When someone backs under dropped trailer the landing gear moves and that causes the crank handle to be stuck in locked position. Drivers lose their finger trying to unstuck the handle. \n","replyToPid":0}

","text":"You drop airbags for another reason :\nIf you have fenders on ur semi and pull out from a ‘loaded’ trailer , ur airbag height valve is to slow to keep up with the amount of air needed to release from the airbags , so it can keep truck raised up for to long and damage ur fenders when pulling out from under trailer , ","replyToPid":459582}
