{"replyTo":"","text":"As a class A driver the last couple years, the settings I use in my Garmin DEZL I set and leave on 75’ long, 13’6 high and 8’ wide, 79,000 pounds. In 2.5 years I don’t think it has ever lead me wrong… BUT, it is only a tool. The few errors or cautions it has given me that were wrong were where a bridge had been upgraded and the maps didn’t reflect the new load limits, OR a couple oddball places like on I-76 in PA where there are signs warning of 12’10 height ON THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD! Since I prefer to stay in actual lanes for traffic and don’t drive on the shoulders at highway speed I have learned a couple spots that that to just ignore due to personal experience.\n\nI do drive only dry van or now reefer, so maybe if the height or width of your loads vary, I’d suggest setting it to the max you do and that will cover lesser heights or widths. I leave mine set at 79k weight, even when running light… and use common sense and don’t worry if it warns me but I know I am okay.\n\nThe official road signs are the final authority other than traffic control officers directions…","replyToPid":0} |
