{"text":"I just cruise along doing my company’s governed 65mph on a f’n 75mph highway. Next thing you know another trucker or sometimes car hauls a** to get in front of me and then slows down to 60-63 mph. Then when I try to pass they want to speed back up 😂🤦🏾‍♂️ Why?! What are y’all trying to prove? Being governed is one of the main reasons I’m leaving to another company.","videos":"[]","link":"{}","pics":"[]","canComment":true,"externalShare":false}

{"replyToPid":0,"replyTo":"","text":"His cruise control probably doesn’t work.\n\nOn a side note, on newer trucks you can now finally confirm how fast the driver in front of you is going and if he’s using the cruise control or not or if he’s actually going faster or slower.\n\nIf I were you, just pressure him by making a lane change as if you’re going to pass him. As you said, he’ll speed up, and then you move back. My truck has no governor, but I drive at 62 (unless the load needs faster), and so I do exactly what what I wrote above. There was a time I would just completely pass them by going 75, but now I sort of give them a chance to get their act together. If they keep on fooling around for 5-10 minutes, then I’ll pass them. They usually get their act together."}

{"replyTo":"","text":"On the Freightliner Cascadia, they have this “adaptive cruise control” that coasts (in gear E, some kind of neutral gear) as it crests a hill. It will allow the speed to lower down to 4 mph below the set cruise at least that’s how my truck is set up. Apparently you can change those settings if you have the mechanic software that connects to the truck. So the 60-63 mph range that you speak of is likely the Freightliner adaptive cruise control. It’s meant to save on fuel.\n\nBy the way, as far as I’m aware, the following distance warning is something that cannot be legally removed. All new semi trucks must have it, but the lane departure warning isn’t part of the law.\n\nI’ve heard some truckers drive a bit lower than their governed speed, so they won’t deal much with the problems you speak of. I know everyone wants to drive fast, but the truth is that the faster you drive, the more people you need to pass. If you put the cruise control at 62 you will hardly need to pass anyone, except occasionally Prime, Schneider, and Swift, but since you can got 65, you can just speed up and pass them. I’ve driven at 72 for quite some time, and it’s just way more work having to pass over 100 vehicles every day, and there are times when you’re passing vehicles nonstop for hours. There’s nothing like driving slower and letting everyone else do the passing while you chill in your truck listening to Joe Rogan or whatnot. ","replyToPid":0}

{"replyToPid":0,"replyTo":"","text":"Going 62 on an 80 speed limit highway is not illegal. The highest “minimum” speed limit I have ever seen is 55, but the most common out there are 40-50. So you have zero legal groundings. Also, the word “limit” in “speed limit,” means you are not supposed to go over it, yet many people do. So who’s really breaking the law here?\n\nThe real problem is people are NOT paying attention to the road anymore. They’re on their phones. They are the reason why the following distance technology is now mandatory on new semi trucks. There are all these following distance warnings making sounds and appearing on the dash. Plus it can slow down the truck using the jake brake and possibly even use the service brakes if you’re about to crash, but I cannot confirm the latter yet."}

738350 发表于 2021-07-06 00:21:17 Thank you bud. I actually have a button I can push in the truck to stop the noise but it still records if I stay departed outside of the lane too long. Definitely don’t go anywhere that has a bunch of rules and regulations. The feeling of driving like you’re driving for yourself even though you’re at another company has to be an amazing feeling.
","text":"Yes it is amazing. Its hard to find companies like the one I’m at but they are out there and when you do find them never leave them. 279311 发表于 2021-07-03 04:00:47 Yup, I’ve read about that fuse (35) to stop the lane departure warning. I’ll be taking care of that eventually or deactivate it through the mechanic software. I happen to own the software, but I just need to install it on a computer and learn how to use it.\n\nAs for the following distance warning, it doesn’t bother me at all. Frankly the only people who would tear their hair off are drivers (probably owner operators) who have a habit of riding the vehicles in front of them. They’re not supposed to be doing that anyway. The following distance can also be changed as low as 2.4 seconds and that’s too close for my own comfort. I’m cool with 2.8 seconds driving at 62. If I were driving faster, I would likely need to raise it. It can go as high as 3.6 seconds.
","text":"We can’t adjust ours of course. I feel like as long as they’re pulling away, it’s cool to coast behind them. Other than that I totally agree.","replyToPid":433667}

{"replyTo":"","text":"That’s a possibility \n\nYes, on the newer trucks they do have that. That’s why I can see that they usually stick around that 60-63 area.\n\nYea I usually do that (or try to at least). I just hate to hold up the ones who are actually going the speed limit. I usually just have to such it up and accept it. It’s just annoying. I’d try to ride a little close to him (safely of course), but I have this distance warning bs on my truck and if I get too close it’ll catch it on camera and then they’ll have to call me and tell me to come on or do it over the phone. Then it goes into this point system and after so many points an employee can get terminated. Also if you don’t stay in between the lines (which I have no problem doing) it adds on to that point system. I’m a good driver and do my best to follow their guidelines. It’s just too much and just not worth it pay wise. I’d like to drive for a company that at least pays 75-80k a year so I can work towards getting my own truck. ","replyToPid":0}

{"replyTo":"","text":"Yes, I drive a freightliner for my company (swift). My truck actually goes a little bit faster (66-67 I believe). I think the computer got a bit messed up when I got new tires on here. But I am aware of the E-coast. You can also adjust it to keep it at a certain speed.\n\nI’m not concerned about the following distance itself. I think it’s a great thing for drivers who are unaware of their distance. It’s the fact this company wants you to call them or they call you about it and make a big deal about it and it goes onto that point system I mentioned. It’s annoying honestly. I don’t need to be talked to every time like I don’t know what im doing or why im doing it. They can’t see everything I see.\n\nI don’t want to drive fast. I want to be able to get myself out of different situations. Slowing down isn’t always the safest actions. Usually is but not always. I feel like 70 is a great speed to be governed at if I’m going to be governed. I can cruise at 63-65 and if need to get away from an annoying driver, I can do that. I think not having the option is the problem for me. I don’t want to drive their trucks fast. They aren’t meant for that. And I haven’t listened to Joe Rohan in a while. I might do that lol.","replyToPid":0}
