I’ll put my money in that most back pain problems are a result of being overweight, lack of exercise (particularly poor lower back muscles), and having a sedentary job or lifestyle.\n\nIf you doubt it’s about being overweight, think about this. If you are overweight even just 35 pounds, it would be the equivalent of carrying a 5 gallon water bottle on you 24/7. And that’s just 35 pounds overweight. Some people are way past 35. So if you lose the overweight, your body will be lighter and this will be less pressure on your lower back. On top of that you can also strengthen your lower back muscles by doing a few exercises that target the lower back muscles. However, take it easy, and make sure you can do at least over 20 repetitions per set to avoid hurting your lower back even further. If you’re new, you probably won’t need weights at all. As you build muscles and advance, then you can use (modern quick adjustable) dumbbell weights.\n\nThe two back exercises I do to strengthen my lower back are the stiff-leg dumbbell deadlift and flat sit-ups. The first one can be a bit tricky to distinguish from other similar exercises like the regular deadlift or squat. You probably want to watch several videos to know the differences. Both of these exercises can be done without weights (for beginners). If you cannot do a sit up, you can place pillows behind you to help you or you can use an adjustable bench in the incline position. "} |
