{"text":"I understand that with COVID the nature of business is changing. And while this may seem silly to most, I do have a legitimate question for you to ponder. Full disclosure, the idea has been with me for a few months and started over coffee. Yes I agree its a little thing, however, I am now noticing it everywhere. Do you feel price gouging is occurring as you all travel the states? So at first when everything re-opened it became you cannot refill your mugs with hot or cold beverages, you must purchase their cups. I can see the concept somewhat, so I looked into it. The actual mandate set by CDC and WHO does not actually restrict this in the manner businesses are implementing it. I can explain further if you wish, or you can look it up yourself, either way. But again, they're being safe, adapting to all clients, and not risking being shut down by the health dept. Okay I'll roll with that. Except slowly I have watched the prices rise of their coffee, using their cups, to now nearly a dollar more that \"standard\" price. This morning I paid $2.95 for a 20 oz coffee in their cup. Just regular old brewed, black coffee. Whats my option? Not buy any I suppose. Had they listed the price anywhere in the store, I would have forgone and chose to go without. (and been a touch grumpy lol). It wasnt listed and I had poured my cup so, OFC I paid for it politely. But then I wondered... I am confident that a year ago that would have been nearly a dollar less. Now before this business owner opened his store, they would have calculated the cost of the cup, the product, the labor, the profit, etc. So why did the cost change? Can i be sure it did, no. But with watching the costs everywhere I go, its an educated guess. When I have the time, I browse the stores, mostly to move a little, but also just to pay attention. It seems the costs of many things have risen. Now if it was across the board all prices, I could understand it more. We have all experienced that there was a difficulty moving products and manufacturing shut downs. But it seems to not be everything, just specific things. Let me ask you this, a year ago if you went to a store and needed a mask, for any reason, how much would you pay for one? Now I won't step into the concept of if masks are beneficial, I'm kinda new here and a little scared, won't lie. Maybe another posts lol. But let's say you're painting, or sanding, or working and need one. You could grab one for a dollar anywhere you went. Now, seven bucks, take it or leave it. For one mask. Now i don't mean medical masks, just the standard paper ones. Price gouging is illegal in every state. Especially in a \"state of emergency\". Have you seen this? What's your thoughts? Maybe I am just being grumpy after all. Just wondering what others have seen, experienced, and thought about it. I am one who is open to all opinions, similar or differing. Toss it out there, I'm interested. ","videos":"[]","link":"{}","pics":"[]","canComment":true,"externalShare":false} |
