{"replyTo":"","text":"First, I'd ask, what is your goal? To work for someone locally? Be a company driver? Or to own your own truck? If it's the ladder, I'd start by running the truck you drive as if you were an owner. Count every fuel up, every repair, make up a reasonable monthly truck and trailer payment, insurance, put $.15 a mile aside for a maintenance account. This account will be used for repairs, oil changes, tires, etc...Act as is your getting $1.75-$1.85 a mile for the load. Not counting deadhead. That's usually on your dime. Now just add up and subtract and you'll get an idea of what's it like to be an owner operator. There's still a lot more to it, but this will get you thinking. If you're driving for someone locally or driving as a company driver, then don't worry about all of that. Someone else's headache.","replyToPid":0} |
