{"replyTo":"","text":"Lemme put my 25 cents in (inflation) and help you guys out...\n1. Wtf are you doing on an icy hill with an empty trailer in the first place (smartphone told you weather ahead of time).\n2. Engine brake has 3 settings for a reason (believe it or not, it's not to sing the song of our people in 3 different tempo's), use setting 1 or 2 depending on hill grade.\n3. There's always the option of \"riding it out\"\n4. There's always the option of a controlled wreck. (contrary to popular belief, this is not only do-able, it's been done many a time by them really old school drivers)\n5. Trailer brake, (correct name is \"trolley brake\"), is the wrong way to go... Reason being... If said rookie has no experience with it, chances are it will go something like this...\n Rookie pulls on trolley brake, inexperience causes him to pull to hard, looks in mirror just as the locked trailer brakes cause the trailer to begin a jack knife. Said rookie releases trolley brake (again, inexperience kicks in) and instead of \"pausing\" for a moment to allow trailer to unlock, which would more than likely cause it to return to its correct position behind the tractor, rookie instead, with white knuckled grip on steering wheel, slams the brake pedal to the floor, which in turn causes an un-epic crash that no one notices, because everyone with half a brain saw the weather and parked their truck.\n\nGramma nazis need not respond.","replyToPid":0} |
