{"text":"Is anyone else finding NONE of the critical items they need, such as hand sanitizer, disinfectant wipes, paper towels, etc. in Walmarts and other stores?\n\nI stopped counting after 20, but I've probably stopped at close to 30 Walmarts in nearly as many states over the last 3-4 weeks. I got one 9oz bottle of (Great Value) hand sanitizer, one jug of Pine-Glo, and a can of (again, G.V.) disinfectant spray. THAT'S ALL I'VE FOUND.\n\nWhen explaining my situation to the employees and managers, not only do I get the (initially surprising) reaction of \"So?\", but I've been told, literally, this is a direct quote: \"Managers don't care about your situation, honestly. There are expecting mothers who can't get what they need either.\"\nIn other words, 'So what?! Go whine somewhere else cuz we don't give a ...'.\nI'm not asking for special treatment because of my \"situation\"!\nWhat I AM asking for is an attempt to UNDERSTAND the situation that I'm in, and at least TRY to think of a solution! Here's a wild idea! How about just NOT be a rude, dismissive and disrespectful little \"you know what\"??\nOn top of that, now Walmart has limited customers to only buying 1 of each item in the entire store, in every store in the country. \nThere are items I buy at Walmart that don't last a week! \nSo what are my choices? Spend $3 per gallon of water in a truck stop or stop at Walmart once per day and only spend 80 something cents per gallon? My puppy and I use at least 1 to 1.5 gallon per day. This ain't Mexico, I shouldn't have to ration my water use.\n\nHerein lies the problem:\nAs a truck driver, I have a job to do, arguably one of the most important jobs during this crisis, right? So, I, and the tens of thousands of my colleagues, simply DO NOT have the time to \"camp out\" at a Walmart, waiting for the GM and/or the chemical truck to arrive, stand around in the aisle waiting for (hopefully) the ONE item I NEED MORE THAN ANYTHING (besides food and water, obviously) to be wheeled out and unpacked, so I can grab it before the locals come stampeding in and buy it all!\n\nWHAT AM I GOING TO DO??!\nI am OUT OF Lysol wipes, as of tonight.\nI will run out of hand sanitizer by next week sometime, at the current rate of use.\nI'm down to my last roll of paper towels, which if I run out of those, my disinfectant spray will be useless because I'll have nothing to wipe it off with.\nPlus, the spray can't be used on most of the surfaces I need to sanitize, such as my phone, my vape, my GPS, my vinyl steering wheel cover (well, maybe that one will be okay).\n\nSo, the problem has several layers:\n• Availability of the items\n• Time required to potentially acquire said items\n• Unhelpfullness of Walmart staff\n• Totally inconsiderate people who overbought and hoarded the items\n• Inability to go home\n\nMy wife has the time to find the items for me, but I'm (currently) 1900+ miles from home, and she's one of the \"most at risk\" people due to her preexisting health conditions. I'm therefore unable or ill-advised to meet up with her, and she shouldn't be risking her health any more than is absolutely necessary to take care of herself and our child, so there's no solution there.\n\nIf everyone has bought everything from the manufacturers and the warehouse inventories are depleted, then my company is just as unlikely to be able to acquire the items. Again, no solution there.\n\nIf Walmart is going to continue to ignore this VERY REAL problem, and therefore not attempt to find a solution, then again, no solution there.\n\nYa know, once truck drivers start dropping out, the already overburdened and thinly stretched industry will start to sputter and fizzle out... then where will the country be??\n\nIf healthcare workers and first responders get priority on these and other necessary supplies, then my argument is that truck drivers are third (or fourth, since we should include government workers and officials as well) on the priority list.\n\nIf anyone has any ideas, I'm ALL EARS. I know I've probably left a few factors out, but I think this rant is a thorough, sobering, and realistic description of a very serious problem.\n\nA solution is DESPERATELY needed.","videos":"[]","link":"{}","pics":"[]","canComment":true,"externalShare":false}

{"replyTo":"","text":"Unfortunately what is happening is when the trucks deliver to the stores the employees know when it will be there and they call and inform there family there cousins there 2nd cousins and there 3rd cousins on there mamas side and there friends and tell them what time to be there so by time it hits the shelf they are standing there and grab it. {"replyTo":"","text":"Wow, that is a really long post/rant. We all understand the frustration, but we are in an occupation that by its very nature requires toughness & resourcefulness. Think outside the box, like buy your bottled water at the truck stop using your loyalty points. If you can’t get any sanitizer, use some alcohol or even some cheap liquor or whiskey.
