Why US Govt castrated iconic american tradition completely!

{"text":"Even though trucks are not even responsible for %20 of the accidents on the roads, US Government has completely destroyed the iconic American tradition. Truckers have no voice or proper representation and its only going to get worse. There are thousands of high risk professions like doctors, law enforcement, lawyers, uber drivers, farmers and much more but lawmakers can only see a big truck outside their window. Here are the few events from past 2 years.\n\n(1) Clearinghouse : Starting January 2020 all employers, MRI, Law enforcement individuals are forced to report all drug test results to Clearinghouse.  A trace of control substance (alcohol, marijuana) in your urine will be reported to Clearinghouse. You current or future employer will subsequently check your database and could terminate your employment. Bottom line, at the end of a long day or weekend you might not calm your nerves with a joint or a glass of beer.\n\n(2) Starting December 2019 ELD became a new reality in trucking industry. A computer is connected to your engine (black box) and you must comply with driving hours. A Industry where drivers were struggling with handwritten paper logs, are being forced to computer logs. Bottom line, If you are 2 hours away from your family, a decent rest stop..you are still being forced to spend a night in your cab, on your crib mattress.\n\n(3) Trump administration tore apart NAFTA that was brain fart of a Republican President 35 years ago. Four years of Trump Presidency has elapsed yet their is no sign when a trade deal can be finalized. This uncertainty shut down some historic names in  trucking industry, owner operators and laid off thousand of workers.\n\n(4) Cost of equipment went up %30, Diesel used be $1.90 few year ego, went  upto average $3 per gallon. On the other side drivers pay is still the same average start rate is around €45/mile. There are no loads, even if there are it's being picked up at $1.80 per mile a all time low.\n\nCan anyone tell me why there are no such laws for any other driving profession, Why they are all out after Truckers??? \n\n","videos":"[]","link":"{}","pics":"[]","canComment":true,"externalShare":false}

Same HOS. Why do we hear so much about how evil the ELD is? Oh wait...I think I know. It because of cheaters. Of which I was once BTW. So I used to run 3000 miles a week and cleared $1.00/mile. I now run 2500 miles a week and clear $1.50/mile. As an O/O of course. Pretty hard to convince me to run crazy and cheat anymore! Work smarter, not harder. Say no to cheap freight. ","replyToPid":0}

","text":"It's about 1/3 deadhead but you often get FSC for pulling the empty tank. It's close to $2 all miles usually. Bottom line, if you own your truck outright you can make 100k and still be home regularly. I'm sure other specialized haulers do similar net numbers. Heavy haul, car haulers, moving companies, etc. all do really well. Everyone loves to haul general freight in a leased truck for $1 a mile and complain all day about rates though.","replyToPid":320811}
