{"text":"Let me start by saying I hate the term “Hotshot”. Call me a transporter, small truck, whatever...Hotshot is a stupid name. \nHere’s my problem: I’m sick of getting treated like sh*t out on the road just because I drive a smaller truck (I’m 51ft total). I have to go through almost everything the big trucks do. I have an ELD, a DOT number, MC number, UCR, medical card and giant insurance bills. I have to scale in all but 2 states. I’m subject to inspection, probably more so that a semi because they assume I don’t know what I’m doing. I don’t get drug tested and don’t have to deal with IFTA so you got me there. Not my rules. \nI go out of my way to park places big trucks won’t fit. In the front lot of a truckstop, a rest area, Walmart. I’ve even paid for a spot in a RV Park just so I wouldn’t get in the way. Only if it’s my last chance before my time runs out will I take a full-size spot in a truckstop. Last night I took a spot behind a 9 car hauler. I was so close the back top car was over my hood and I barely fit but this morning I woke up to piss bottles under my tires. Never get tired of that trick. Hilarious. Didn’t work though. Saw them before I drove so then it’s just litter WHICH IS THE NUMBER ONE REASON PEOPLE HATE TRUCKERS!! Brilliant. \nI’m not taking work from the big trucks. I haul cars. Mostly classic and exotic and one at a time. Most places I go I can barely get to in my lowly one ton pick up and 34’ enclosed gooseneck trailer. You Big Dogs want that gig? I’m not doing anything nobel like delivering baby formula or underwear but I’m doing a job that someone is willing to pay for so it might as well be me. \nWe’re all out here together. We should help each other. I don’t mind sitting at the kids table, just want to be invited to dinner. \n","videos":"[]","link":"{}","pics":"[]","canComment":true} |
