Ignored by home office!

{"text":"I just started my first driving job a couple of weeks ago with what seemed like a solid company. Trainee and rookie pay isn't much, but their CSA score and training program looked outstanding. Seemed like a solid company for a first position.\n\nMy first day driving though, I was routed into Chicago in late morning and then forced to wait until mid afternoon for my next load. That's fine - inconvenient timing and waiting are part of the industry, right? Well, it was a pretty hot load, and required bobtailing to the other side of the metro area to pick it up. By the time my trainer and I got there, we were driving out (or trying to) through rush hour traffic on a Friday.\n\nIt happens, it's part of the industry, I expected this.\n\nThe next week was all the same, with repetitive runs into Chicago during heavy traffic times. I'm supposed to be Midwest regional - all I've seen is Chicago and, once, Nebraska. There are long waits, frequently overnight, between loads.\n\nNeither my trainer nor I could get in touch with our driver manager.\nOr the training program manager.\nOr the maintenance manager when we had a trailer breakdown.\nOr the driver relations rep.\n\nNobody from the home terminal (also the company HQ) is responding to us or returning our calls. We got one response via the ELD in all of the last week, and it was one word long. My trainer is furious and says that getting ignored like this is unacceptable. That's what the instructors at the academy said, too.\n\nI think that I should get clear of this company asap, but I'm not sure if I'm overreacting. I'm also worried about what the next company would think. I'm interested in hearing what some other rookies think, and what veteran drivers have to say about this.","videos":"[]","link":"{}","pics":"[]","canComment":true}

{"replyTo":"","text":"Curious why you’re not name dropping but are you calling phones or sending a macro in. If your getting loads and preplans everday but having to overnight on the shippers lot that’s a positive. Can’t get in contact with your DM, negative. Not seeing anything other than Chicago while under the supervision and protection of your trainer, positive. It’s good to get used to big cities with backup from a trainer. Mega carriers and starter companies are crappy but you gotta cut your teeth there unless it’s just straight up intolerable. If you decide to switch, have a job and orientation date lined up before you leave. Companies track your 10yr history so don’t have a line of companies to explain. If your looking at another company Knight Transportation has a terminal in Joliet IL. I started there and they’re a pain in the aśś in my opinion but a lot of other drivers I worked with there liked them. They don’t have apu’s or high pay (40cpm area after probation) but they have ok truck, tons of terminals, daily pay, phone app, 48state or regional or drayage. I wouldn’t jump in with Swift even though they’re working with Knight a little. Don’t know anything about JB hunt or Werner. TMC is flat bed out of OH, run 13 speeds and make good money. Either he’s bad as a DM or he’s screening your calls for some reason. Wether it’s because of you or your trainer is a question. Lack of communication is sketch but a gag policy on drivers is more sketchy if you’re not hauling a HVL. I can understand opsec for a HVL but a general merch one I don’t. Weak pay, no comms, good loads or bad loads idk. You have thinking to do. ","replyToPid":0}

I'm not name dropping on my company because they actually have a gag policy about things like that. Could be my job, if it gets back.\n\nI'm grateful I'm getting training for metro traffic, don't get me wrong. I'm also supposed to be getting mountain training, and time in our terminals devoted to backing practice though.\n\nAs far as communications go, it's been calls, voicemails, macros, custom messages on the ELD, and messages through our app. What interaction we've gotten is other DMs picking up our guy's phone for him when he's away from his desk.","replyToPid":0}
