You do mostly live loads and unloads plus you have to monitor the reefer unit. Keep it fueled and make sure nothing goes wrong with it that could risk the load.\nDry Van normally pays less then reefer and is the easiest. Can either be a lot of drop and hook or live load/unload depending on the company.\n\nWhen it comes to reefer and dry van, the pay difference doesn't really matter. Can get more miles doing drop and hook dry van for less pay, or less miles for more pay sitting at docks doing reefer. In the end, the pay rate doesn't necessarily have anything to do with the amount you take home at the end of the week.\n\nBut one benefit to reefer is the free food. If you do reefer it would be wise to get a chest freezer and cooking equipment for your truck if possible. An 80lb case of ground beef or 140lb of chicken breasts can feed a solo driver for a while.
