278300 发表于 2020-10-12 14:42:45 I don't believe that doing your 30 minute break in On Duty Not Driving is correct. Because if you are On Duty Not Driving you are still supposedly doing something with the truck. Fueling, washing, scaling, loading/unloading. How is that a break???
","text":"it won't always but it gives you that extra 30 minutes on those times you need that extra time becaise we have all been there where times so tight because of one reason or another where 30 minutes could be the diff between getting home a day sooner or not because you end up missing a reload","replyToPid":402317}

747761 发表于 2020-10-12 15:07:48 Experiencing the new 30 minute break allowed including the on time duty into it. honestly the 30 minute break should be removed completely because it's really no break at all because it completes the break while I didn't even intend to take a break. also my pre trip doesn't even start my day, which can actually be beneficial.
","text":"yes of all the new rules I love the most that the pretrip no longer pulls time off of your 8 hours. most of my loads are dedicated and from my yard to drop is between 7 to 7 1/2  hours and that 15 minutes makes a world of difference and already im wasting less time because even my reload is preloaded heading home 5 minutes from drop. now im able to make it to the drop, grab an empty and go 5 mins away, drop and hook then take my 30 min breaks at the pilot right infront of the place and actual take a real break instead of having to stop for 30 mins a few miles from mu drop then stop at the pilot anyones afterwards and waste more of my 14","replyToPid":402328}

{"replyTo":"","text":"na man when the eld was implemented they put an amendment that gave an allowance to companies with if I remember right 5 or less trucks. idk why exactly but I think maybe because the mom and pop companies have harder times finding loads because the larger companies tend to have contracts with places that ends up taking much more time to find. atleast thats what I  believe is the reason.","replyToPid":0}

{"replyTo":"","text":"it doesnt give you back what you had before the split. it is for those times where one thing or another used up most of your day while you were not able to do much driving. it gives you back the hos you were not able to use due to the delays but doing the 2nd half of the split will give you the remainder of what you would have if you did a full 10 hours. like lets say you had 6 or 7 hours of loading but you needed those hours to make it ontime to unload and you wouldn't be able to do a full 10 hour after loading. so you loaded and drop 4 hours then stop for the 7 hours and gain back the 7 hours you lost and make it to unload and then stop for the 3 hours and when you get up you will have 4 hours of drive left. id find that vary helpful if I was going home and only needed that time to make it home instead of having to stop a full 10","replyToPid":0}

{"replyTo":"","text":"The 14 hr rule is the real problem, when I’m pressured to get somewhere and literally don’t have time to stop to use a restroom or eat because the timer is ticking and I have just enough hours to get somewhere. All these hours limits are not making the roads safer. If they are concerned about safer roads they need to do something about Cel phones! That’s the real safety issue for all drivers!","replyToPid":0}
