But better, a map can't and won't tell you if there is a wreck 22 miles up the road, or a speed trap, traffic delays. In today time constraints, a GPS can almost instantly tell you the best route .vs pulling over to plan a route should something go awry on you trip....wasting D.O.T hours. And used correctly, I.E follow the check the route it's sending you on to make sure it's not going to get you in a bind, it's a very valuable tool. Key is to make sure it's not setting you up as a truck driver. would one use a screw driver as a hammer? No.

I've heard that Garmin isn't much better.\n\n The only thing that truck GPS seems to be good for is the \"last mile\" from the highway to shipper/receiver. It will keep you from restricted roads and low bridges.\n\n  So my system is to use Google Maps in transit and truck GPS on city streets.","replyToPid":0}
