{"replyTo":" 643146 发表于 2019-06-12 05:27:15 Really? I do have a dog in this one! I don’t represent anyone but myself. I happen to operate a truck, that in itself does not define me. I’m not part of some “brotherhood” of truckers. Quite frankly, I avoid trucks and most drivers (most....not all) like the plague! Most driver can’t mind their own business because they’re too busy trying to mind mine or others. Most are critical of anyone who does not fit into their particular little “vanilla” mold of themselves. (Ring any bells)? \nI wear flip flops, and carry spares if I get a flat on one. (My 3 pedals don’t know the difference) I carry something for that odd time I’m required to have closed toe shoes. \nI learned decades ago....”comfort is always in fashion”\nI’m 58 ish...learned how to drive a truck before the thought of schools even existed. (That still blows me away..school to learn to drive...PT Barnum said it) \nI’m not g@y don’t surf, not from Cali, and know how to mind my business on most days. Oh, and don’t give a rats @ss what you choose to wear. ","text":"First, I’m not asking you to wear a suit and tie, jeans are comfortable if you’re not 100 lbs over weight. Tennis shoes are comfortable too. Fact is flip flops are not proper footwear by DOT regulation but they just don’t enforce it as they should.\nSecond, no one ever only represents themselves. People like to think that because they are self centered, but everywhere you go and everything you do can be projected to others. Wether or not you want to be grouped with others does not matter, you are. Not every driver for SWIFT is new or a bad driver, but many people assume when they see a SWIFT truck they better watch out. That’s because a few have done some stupid things. I see it often when someone compliments me on the way I’m dressed or the way I back/drive. Because I’m a truck driver and so many truck drivers like you dress like slobs, they are surprised when I look presentable. Because I’m a girl truck driver people assume I can’t back/drive, but then I do well and hopefully that changes that persons perspective of not only me, but those they encounter after me. Other people are affected by your choices wether you want them to be or not. Everyday we are judged in groups, those we choose to associate ourselves with, and those we simply are grouped with by appearance or assumptions.\nLastly, I don’t care if you want to wear flip flops, or have 50 piercings on your face, or have your the waist of your pants at your ankles, but don’t expect me & everyone else to treat you the same. And don’t try to act like you are a saint and never judge anyone, because that’s complete BS. You just jumped all over me for my opinion because it doesn’t fit your “mold” ","replyToPid":64595} |
