Canada south does not require a 1/2 hour break and now the US only requires one after 8 hours of driving. Which for me, as a driver who gets paid hourly for all on duty time, means no more breaks!!! {"replyTo":"","text":"I love the changes and hope it keeps getting better for us truckers, and for all these people in organizations against truckers, lets put drive hour limits on civilian automobiles just like commercial so if you work 11 hours you can't drive home without first being asleep for atleast 8 hrs. work 10hrs a day and only have 1 hr to drive home and see how you feel about rules. yes  let's open these rules to all private sectors. cause there are alot of 4 wheelers out there that are driving fatigue and causing wrecks so for your safety lets regulate the private sectors hours of service (HOS)  just to be fair.","replyToPid":0}

Fmcsa needs to abolish the 14 hour rule so the highways aren't a racetrack anymore, drivers aren't driving fatigued and we would be able to find a parking spot after 2 pm. {"replyTo":"","text":"I like being able to split the break. HOWEVER, according to a Rand Mcnally Representative there's wording that makes it difficult. Though it states neither break counts against your 14 when paired, it does state \"......the 8 hour IS NOT exlcuded from the 14...\". So, what was explained to me by Rand Mcnally rep. is you take your first break, then when you go to take your second break your currently out of hours, in violation until after the next break, in which your click will retro back and remove the violation as well as reflect your hours accordingly. I don't trust doing that, especially if I were to get pulled over before the next break correcting the hours so as not to be in violation.  SOMEONE FROM FMCSA who knows what the deal is THOROUGHLY please contact me to explain this. I've tried calling, no answer or no one to talk to.
