{"replyTo":"","text":"I’ve been pretty lucky I guess, have been involved in a couple accidents (both my fault) but no one got hurt. One time though I was on the PA Turnpike during the winter and things were getting very bad, very slippery very quickly. One minute the road surface was visible and traction was good and the next minute it was an icy wet snow squall and it was coming down hard. I slowed down to about 30mph but I lost sight of the tire tracks and next thing I knew I was spinning around, almost twice. Thankfully there wasn’t any traffic near me at the moment nor did I hit the divider. After I stopped I was able to get going again and as luck would have it the next exit was close so I got off, got myself to the nearest hotel and checked in. Of course a few hours later the sun came out and started to melt everything but it was already evening so screw it, I went to the nearby mall and got some food. Plus I figured if it got cold enough later there’d be black ice to contend with.","replyToPid":0}

{"replyTo":"","text":"craziest was when I owned junkyards. i was towing a large bus with a wrecker that wasn’t nearly large enough for the job. I took a corner a little too quickly and the weight of the bus pushing on the wrecker boom above the center of gravity flipped and jackknifed my truck. The bus continued to push my truck down the road upside down with me hanging onto the steering column like some crazy monkey watching the pavement and sparks whizzing by inches below me.\n\nI walked away from that one intact too. Had a friend bring my boom truck and some extra oil to replace what leaked out. We flipped it back over, pulled the roof back out with the boom truck, topped off the oil and SLOWLY finished towing that bus to where it needed to go.","replyToPid":0}

{"replyTo":"","text":"I noticed that there are a number of truckers who had life-sized stuffed animals riding shotgun. I saw one with a life sized gorilla, a huge dogish...thing and a few aliens. All in their seat belt, of course, for safety. Also, the gallon sized piss bottles left in truck stop parking lots is amazing.","replyToPid":0}

{"replyTo":"","text":"A friend of mine has a relative who was/is an owner operator.\n\nOne time, he was supposed to ship containers of whipped cream from one state to another, passing through the Rocky Mountains. He looked at the route that was provided and realized he could save time by taking another road through the mountains.\n\nOnce he gets to the other side of the mountain he stops for a meal or something and checks in the back. Turns out the pass he took was high enough in altitude that the pressure caused the lids to pop off all of the containers, and the inside of his trailer was covered in whipped cream.","replyToPid":0}

He told a story of stopping in Indiana and picking up a handle of whiskey, drinking it, and basically blacking out completely. Said he woke up at a truck stop in Texas with no recollection of the last 3 states he drove through. That story freaked me out.","replyToPid":0}

{"replyTo":"","text":"I was driving through Illinois, and drove past a scene where, apparently, a Mother had stopped the car for a child to use the bathroom on the side of the interstate, and the kid thought it would be a good idea to run across the road. The kid actually made it across in one piece, but the mother's first response was to bolt after the kid. She got hit by a car going 70MPH, and was basically torn apart. The whole scene was pretty gruesome.","replyToPid":0}
