{"replyTo":"","text":"Honesty is good. The progress that we should absolutely be working towards, and the realities that we have to deal with right now, are not always one and the same. The purpose for this post is because I’ve been getting a lot more ominous “be careful out there” from men whom I respect and trust. I’ve also seen a lot more visibly unstable people on the road, at camps etc, and even had to move in the middle of the night due to being streetwise enough to spot encroaching trouble before it blows. More places to avoid due to my “spidey sense” going off, and overstaying at places I do feel comfortable just to relax. Most of my experiences have been positive, particularly in the southern third of the country. It just hurts my heart a little that places that used to be nice and safe don’t feel so much anymore. Before I restarted my digital nomad life again I was in what used to be a fun, artsy town in a beautiful spot that is getting destroyed by addiction and is no longer safe. Not unusual anymore. I felt safer traveling as a 19 year old in the days when people barely had cellphones, than I feel as a grown woman in the digital age. No reason to give up, but having friends in other developed countries gasp at the thought of needing to be armed on the road puts it into perspective. \n\nSorry so long. Thanks for the replies. Also sorry for redundant posts - it won’t let me delete for some reason. \n","replyToPid":0}

{"replyTo":"","text":"It’s easy to observe “people on the move” to come to that realization, but in reality, the mental health illnesses and drug use is increasing in all walks of life. There no longer is a such thing as the peachy little perfect town. Or big city. No matter what path you take, people with worsening problems will be there. \n\nIn my opinion, around truckers might be safer. We are heavily regulated and often get tested. \nHope this helps 😁","replyToPid":0}

762035 发表于 2019-08-21 08:50:34 I think you misunderstand; I was referring to people on the move in general, not specifically drivers. Great to hear that in your own personal experience you haven’t encountered any issues that are, statistically speaking, more likely, depending on whatever variables. Maybe I’ll go for it?
","text":"18 yrs out here myself and yes these days gotta be aware of the your surroundings yes weirdo's are everywhere I actually enjoy the road forever changing and pulling a flatbed is always challenging and keeps the job exciting ...and the woman that I have run across out here trucking are in my opinion safer more aware have pride in what they do cleaner then a lot of these guys today ... anyway good luck if ya decide to get that CDL","replyToPid":187173}

762035 发表于 2019-08-21 07:04:06 That’s part of the appeal of life on the road. I’m not really a part of regular society either. I’m just nervous that if I get my CDL my employer could send me anywhere in a world where “cute small towns” and “scenic passes” are often filled with drugs and lunatics. I shouldn’t need a dog, pistol and black belt just to get around
","text":"I have been in almost every large city in these 48 states,I been in places I've been told no white man should go after dark and not one time have I ever been mest with.. but I can tell you this back in the late 80s in California  got shoot at,in the 90s robbed twice in Houston texas,and here it is 2019 no gun,no dog, and I still go into the big cities,and down back roads and ice cover passes","replyToPid":187137}
