{"replyTo":"","text":"rights?!?!, lol. its always our fault. but the best advice is learn all you can about the regulations governing us. you should have a regulations manual in your  truck. it gives you the basic rules for everything about being a cdl driver, and standards on trucks, trailers, securement, etc. but when in doubt ask quetions. most knowledgeable drivers are willing to share information. i don't worry about dot. if you have a question nobody seems to have an answer too, ask an officer. but keep in mind the answer they give you maybe for just their state. also an atlas and the gps have sections in them about all the areas you may travel to. things like low clearances, restricted routes, weight limits, and king pin rules. i hope this helps...","replyToPid":0}

Also keep in mind, we are our own worst enemy. When being pulled over or getting an inspection, just cooperate like a civil human-being. It will go a lot smoother. {"replyToPid":0,"replyTo":"","text":"I've always found being pleasant with them was helpful and I've never been bullied by them.  Soon as I ever come face to face with one I greet them politely \"Good morning/afternoon, how are you?\".  They nearly always hesitate to think of how to respond because they aren't expecting a pleasant greeting.  It throws them off and confuses them a bit, probably allivating any stress momentarily.\n\nDuring inspections I'll even try to make small talk with the person, asking them about how long they've done the job, what it's like living in the area, etc.  Being from PA, I am actually interested in what it's like living in other areas of the country.\n\nThree times now a polite attitude and chatting with the person has gotten me out of tickets.  Once during an inspection, and 2 traffic stops.\n\nTreat others how you would like them to treat you."}
