I traded my 379 Pete 13 speed standard for a Freightliner Cascadia 12speed automatic and received a lot of 💩. “That’s not an owner/op truck” “automatics are for steering wheel holders” “you’re buying a fleet truck” etc.  I’m making more money than them, I’m more comfortable driving and down time and some O/O that criticized me for my decision are now back to company drivers. Look out for you and your business only. \n\nLicensing... Do it yourself. A lot of companies change a lot and it’s pretty easy to do yourself and save a ton. ","replyToPid":0}

{"replyTo":"","text":"Find a local mechanic who will help you with oil changes, tires, hoses and belts, and other minor repairs. Try to stay away from trucks that have a lot of computer stuff. Cummins engine is king of the road in my opinion, you can fix it everywhere and it’s not giving a lot of problems. Also Eaton Fuller manual transmission is much better than automatic ones, especially 9/13 spd. I like Peterbilt or Kenworth. I would definitely stay away from International ProStar and Paccar engines.I have been with a local small company for a while and can’t be happier.
