665190 发表于 2023-10-30 13:03:03 If you're dealing with a sleazy company DOCUMENT it while you find somewhere else to work.\n\nThey call you on the phone and tell you verbally to do something illegal or dangerous, respond with an email saying - my understanding of the phone conversation of <date & time> is this...\n\nClearly state why you cannot or will not do that.\n\nUse the email to GENERATE a paper trail where they absolutely don't want a paper trail. Put a courtesy copy(cc) of the email to someone you trust or blind courtesy copy(bcc) to someone you trust.\n\nThis might not help you but it may help others reading this.  Keep looking for companies with good safety. Someone else suggested make an appointment with a recruiter - that's also a very good suggestion.

{"replyTo":"","text":"The last 2 companies I've worked for (including the one I'm with now) ask me if I'm willing to do something. They don't demand it. The previous company was a line haul run that took about 7 1/2 hours to do a loop (Fairfield to Reno drop and swap) and when I was on my way home they would ask me if I wanted to go again. They never demanded it, they would just ask. I said yes about 90% of the time. They'd reset my log book and when I got back there was an envelope with $250 cash in it in my box. I'd to it 2 or 3 times a week. \nThe new company I'm with felt me out first. I was so used to running over hours that I didn't know any different. I kept telling them to let me run and they wouldn't let me. At first. I guess they wanted to see if I was a mole or something. Once they figured out I wasn't, they let me loose. My safety manager always calls me to make sure I'm rested though before he'll let me finish out an 800+ mile day. So I usually run for 5 or 6 hours, take a nice nap and then tell him I'm going to run another 7 or 8 hours. And he fixes my book so I can. Chicago company. Brand new Volvo, brand new trailer, usually dry hazmat or pallets of like antifreeze, stuff like that. They pay .75 cpm on a 1099 and I average about 3,500 miles a week. Good company that never pushes me to do more but allows it when I want. But we always talk about it first..","replyToPid":0}
