","text":"So you would trust your GPS for directions without knowing if it is taking you on a restricted road?  Then when you get stopped your excuse is, well the GPS told me to go this way.  If I go to a place I never been I always call and get there directions, but I will also ask other drivers on the cb, and if I got no response I would watch for signs that said no trucks.  ","replyToPid":435188}

{"replyTo":"","text":"I started driving in 1994. Driving a 1986 truck with a 444 Cummins rubber block suspension. Total junk from day 1. My dad is 80 this year. He speaks quite often of how he doesn’t understand people talking about how great cars and things were “years ago”. Handling, suspensions, power, etc were terrible. I’m amused at how people talk about how fast their 6000 lb “muscle cars” were with 300 hp. A new Honda Civic SI would wipe most any off them off the map and go into a corner 3x faster. \nNot trying to be an a&$ but we have much better stuff today in every way. Yes emissions junk in today’s trucks have messed it up, but you can delete that (I have) and make a great truck. My friend has a 1971 Chevy pickup. Really cool but I would want to drive it across the country. ","replyToPid":0}

{"replyTo":"","text":"mello jello, didn’t say wasn’t disagreeing with you, GPS is a good technology but people depend on them way to much.  I started in driving in ‘94, when there was  no cell phone or gps.  That map and and the phone at the truck stop booth with a phone card is all we had back then to get directions to shipper / receiver.\n\nAnd yes even back then we had to drop off our BOL’s into a mail box or use trip pack in order to get paid.  ","replyToPid":0}
