{"replyTo":"","text":"LEASE=TRAP! Careful what ya get yourself into. And I would highly advise to wait a while before gettin in over your head. Every new driver seems to want their own truck and that's understandable. But you need way more education then just a company driving course to be a successful o/o. Good luck","replyToPid":0}

{"replyToPid":0,"replyTo":"","text":"The speed obsession is all in your head. You’re not the only one who has it. Getting your own truck may or may not give you more speed, depending on the carrier you’re leased onto. Now, if you run under your own authority, then that’s different. Also keep in mind that most semi tires have speed ratings of 75 or 72 mph. This info is either on the tire sidewall or on manufacturer technical documents online.\n\nLease to own is generally a bad deal. I personally recommend to find a lease only program and try it out (as a free trial) for a few months. If it works, then go ahead and buy a truck. If not, then move on.\n\nBeing a successful owner operator requires to stop thinking like a company driver. That mentality of I need to drive faster is a company driver’s mindset. You see, fuel is probably going to be your highest expense. So it’s wise to drive slower to lower your fuel expense and even truck maintenance and repair costs. However, there may be circumstances when driving, say 72 mph, is justified. For example, they got you on a good dedicated route with lots of miles and the only way to legally make it is to drive fast. Other than that, in most cases, you should be able to make on time delivery driving at around 65 mph or even lower. Plus, it’s less work not having to pass dozens or over 100 vehicles a day. You might also be at a lower chance of getting a ticket and being involved in a rear end accident because driving slower allows you to stop faster. "}
