{"replyTo":"","text":"My brother runs a lumping company.  First, the dock or area where a load is placed is considered purgatory, it’s not actually a part of the shipper/receiver.  Second, the lumping company is renting the space to be on the dock.  Third, the shipper/receiver allows this so as to not deal with insurance issues and random drivers using their equipment.  Lastly, lumpers have multiple people sorting and restacking the load so it cuts down on dock time considerably which allows for more trucks to come through versus one truck driver doing it himself.","replyToPid":0}

{"replyTo":"","text":"Back in the day you hired off the street If you didn't want to do it yourself. Lumpers save the receivers a ton of money. The receiver doesn't have to pay them benefits or overtime or anything like that. In turn it keeps their operating costs down. And let's be honest here.... how many drivers won't touch their freight because they are lazy and out of shape? If every driver unloaded and broke down their load then lumpers would go out of business. ","replyToPid":0}
