Same reason they use a green hose verses a black one, the color is for you to be able to distinguish the difference between the fuel because other than the dye, you can't see the chemical composition.\n\nNo one is opening your tank caps and che king your fuel to make sure you're evading fuel tax. I burn red diesel in my reefer unit every chance I can as well. As for IFTA reporting.. no one is recording red diesel going in their tanks.. you gotta make up hand written receipts instead.
