{"replyTo":"","text":"I've gone through this about 15 years ago. I was in western Michigan and spoke with my Mom on a Sunday like I did every week. Then, I made a delivery on Tuesday morning and had received a message on the Qualcomm to call my brother, it was an emergency. Come to find out my cell had been shutdown for overdue payment. The receiver let me call home long distance and I found out that my Mom had passed away. It took 4 days to get home.  You will think about a lot of different things, from what you think you need to do to do the rest of the family. It was difficult, especially being the oldest child and my father had passed away 5 years before.  You will get through this process, take your time. I'm sorry for your loss ","replyToPid":0}

{"replyTo":"","text":"In 2014 I was on my last few weeks of the dreaded training process when I got the call of my father passing. Totally unexpected and was 1700 hundred miles from home. I will say Stevens gave me full support on flying home and taking as much time as I needed with no hassles. It kills me cause I don't remember my last conversation with him. At the time I was in shock and haven't caved in to my grieving until I arrived at the airport where I last saw him. I've only seen my father tear up twice my whole life,  Once when our dog died years ago and then when I gave him a hug at check in to say goodbye. Didn't realize that he knew this was it  and told him \"WhoaI'll be back in a few months buddy\" Love ya!. He did a good job of hiding being sick until this point. Grieving is hard, even after 5yrs I'm still coping with it. \n\n\"It's not about waiting for the storm to pass, it's learning to dance in the rain.\"\n\n(cheesy quote but it helped me)","replyToPid":0}

{"replyTo":"","text":"My grandfather passed away when I was on the road he was like a father to me he had diesel flowing thru his veins he was a truck driver b4 my mother was born he was on home time when he passed I talk to him for hrs everyday when we were out on the road. By the time I made it back to south Tx he was already cremated everything was said and done. I cant forgive myself for not saying bye to him but the last time we saw each other was in Little Rock Ar I was headed west he was headed East with a big ole smile on his face talking to each other on the cb i don’t think he wanted me to see him at the end like that and from anybody in this world he would of been the 1 to understand how I couldn’t make it down home fast enough he’s been thru it himself. My advice is not to be so hard on yourself in the next couple days, being alone in your truck with all those strong emotions can be dangerous for yourself and everybody going down the road, let it out there’s nobody to judge you in that sleeper cry scream yell whatever you got todo shit I couldn’t make it 5 miles without crying my eyes out keep some tissue paper on you and it don’t hurt to talk to your old man believe me he’s riding with you now I’m Sorry for your loss brother life is unfair at times","replyToPid":0}

{"replyTo":"","text":"I was being trained on a dedicated route when news of my mother passing came in. I threw my phone at the dashboard. She too had been sick for a while. I’m still trying to get over it, especially since it happened the week of my birthday. I’m not sure if I could ever really get over it. I feel your pain there. \nIt was recently her birthday, really hated not being able to call her; she was a really good friend. Hope that you have good support. It gets hard trying to forgive yourself, because that’s one of the issues that I keep having to deal with. I really wanted to at least say goodbye, and always hoped that she would have been able to survive her ailments long enough to have some time to enjoy life without all the pain that she was afflicted with before she passed. Sorry for your loss. I’m not sure if there could ever be an easy fix. \nMy condolences.\nTake care.","replyToPid":0}
