","text":"prime doesn't chose what loads from the pool. the driver can give the dispatcher some idea of what they are looking for and the dispatcher can try to accommodate. I trained with both lease and company trainers. My lease trainer would take off a month at a time which was very irritating to me but might be what you are looking for. you can also train as a lease operator to boost your earnings but I beg you...please don't do that to your trainee. it's a difficult way to learn. it's a walk away lease. I'm not sure the earnings. I feel a bit busier as a company driver. my company trainer was busier than my lease trainer. we had a lot of sit and waits. but they get settlement obviously and I'm per mile. you just need to be working enough to be profitable. they also do deductions for repairs and such. I’m interested in being able to take extended vacations as long as I can cover the monthly note. Not having to leave a company and come back over and over and over. Being able to get to a location and park for a week because I want to. So for that I don’t think I could run company. So prime isn’t forced dispatch on the lease side. They’re walk away leases. Besides states are following California by banning lease drivers meaning you can’t lease if you live in California and New Jersey will be voting on that law too. \n\nPeople talk about making 3.00 a mile. Leased drivers do not make that. That is having your own authority. When you lease you will be making around 1.05 a mile. \n\nCosts going up. Tires oil changed parts fuel labor. Your pay is not. \n\nI was a leased driver for dart for 7 years. I had 3 trucks with them. With the headache of costs going up problems with finding a reliable driver I finally sold my trucks and became a company driver. I now have full benefits vacation pay safety bonus break down pay. Which none you see as a leased driver or o/o. When everything is added up I’m making more money now as a company driver. ","replyToPid":0}

{"replyTo":"","text":"indeed, I say if you've got low overhead and the money to go new you might as well go new I see it like the mega carriers all get rid of trucks before warranties run out even though they probably get crazy discounts for buying in bulk. It's not to say you won't find a diamond in the rough and get a used truck that will not quit on you I say the odds of good used truck are pretty slim though","replyToPid":0}

I’m looking at starting my own MC, getting my own authority, finding my own loads through Uber or TP Truckloads, and leasing a truck from a provider. Renting a truck if that makes more since. I would have thought health insurance would be your overhead, no Ned for paid vacation because I’d have a savings account.","replyToPid":0}

","text":"Ya because you don’t know how someone thrashed their truck. A truck becomes a home and the other driver didn’t get another one because the old one was doing perfect. Odds are it was getting timed out and eventually a bunch of critical parts are going to Shyt the bed. Axles, hubs, bearing, steering linkage, differentials, transmission, window leaks, wiring harness, motor, radiator. I bet they start going in quick succession and that bill would put a start up under.  ","replyToPid":281997}
