Every day there are people that go to work at refineries and construction sites and put in a 12 hour shift not including the time that it to get to work and the time to get back home. Again, I understand rules and policies, however this policies doesn't prevent accidents nor does it prevent drivers from making mistakes. Maybe the ELD should be evaluated for those reasons, a real distraction.

","text":"You are correct. Shippers/recievers have always been the root of the problem of fatiged drivers. All these rules do is put a band aide on the symptoms of the problem instead of the problem itself. The FMCSA works under the assumption that not only do we want to work the equivilent of 2 full time jobs every week but we're also trying to figure out how to work even more. Its ridiculous. WE DONT ACUALLY LIKE WORKING 80HRS/WK FMCSA!! 🙄","replyToPid":402553}

For the OTR driver who does not do local or dedicated all the time, it makes very little relief for what is really needed. Time to scrap the whole deal and start over. HOS was originally designed to prevent fatigue which was killing people, literally. As any driver can tell you, the only thing that prevents fatigue is sleep and working on a schedule. Since that's impossible in the current setup, the most likely outcome of this change will be a faster and further push to A.I. drivers. None of this is good in the eyes of this long time driver.","replyToPid":0}

I understand the mandates and I understand why they're put into place but no ELD is gonna keep us safe or determine if we have the ability to drive more or not. Being a truck driver is one of the most thankless jobs in the world. Putting us OTR on a schedule especially when it comes to highway shutdowns in Wyoming, only hinders our abilities. ELDs just make us run harder and faster to make deadlines.","replyToPid":0}
