All risk, no reward.

I do flatbed and I'm always doing dangerous things, if I'm not climbing on top of something,  I'm driving till my eyes are sore. Most times climbing strapping, chaining and tarping then driving the rest of the day away. Am I the only one who feels like the risk isn't worth the reward. Seems like the price of everything has gone up. Two burgers and fries and drinks 30 bucks earlier today. I feel like the amount of physical, emotional, and psychological crap I go through daily flatbedding should be rewarded at a level that allows me to be well off, not to just get by. {"replyTo":"","text":"Good days & bad days. just be sure to be extra happy on the good day.i have Reefer and they will take average 5-6 hours loading and unloading every time and then I drive till I can.stay away from home 10-12 days average but when I come home I live my lifetime with my 2 year old in 2 days. {"replyTo":"","text":"flatbed driving isn't for everyone. firstly, I am loving the s*** out of it. I don't see getting on my trailer as a risk. I see it is getting on my back porch. as a matter of fact, depending on what fall protection I'm required to use, I may completely refuse a load if I'm required to use fall protection. the heavy loads make it even more exciting. I am almost constantly between 74000 and 79000. I love that. I just wish more drivers would learn to recognize heavyweights and drive accordingly. If a flatbed isn't your thing, have you looked into box driving or even reefer? as far as the money goes, I would always support more! LOL but realistically, with the prospect of fines and penalties that we face each day, yeah, the pay should be in correlation with that. I have heard of some driving jobs that require CDL that pay as low as 40s and 50s. that is absurd! I have heard the talk that is all good because of the benefits, but benefits will not pay weight station fines, deductibles, or other violations. whatever else to consider the most important thing is that you find something you're happy with. if you're not happy doing flatbed, no amount of money will be enough.","replyToPid":0}
