{"replyTo":"","text":"what are you going to pull?  I rarely move for less than $2/mi. only time I do it's either just to get me somewhere there's better options or it's a partial and I can pick up one or two more partials to bring up the rate. I pull a step deck so it's pretty easy to double and triple dip sometimes and get the rate up closer to $4/mi. last couple years I pulled a reefer though. last year running mostly Minnesota to California I grossed $201k and I only worked about 50% of the year.","replyToPid":0}

","text":"if you do reefer loads break down your own loads at receivers and bill the broker whatever the lumper service would have charged you. when I was pulling a reefer yet I could make my truck payment every month just off of what I billed out for brake down and sometimes even put a dent into my insurance payment. it'll get you out of places quicker too and it's a great workout. as an o/o you want to take advantage of every little extra bit of money you can make. just a forewarning the first 6 months will more than likely be pretty rough.","replyToPid":163367}

{"replyToPid":0,"replyTo":"","text":"First of all, stop thinking about running for a bunch of miles. Miles cost the Carrier money. Only use mileage as a number to help determine the cost associated with running that particular load. Also, every lane is different. If you think you're going to get $2/mile everywhere you'll be broke in no time. Your current \"pay\" is going down because whoever you're leased on to does not have direct customers and they're running the spot market. The spot market (loadboard freight) is in the toilet right now. Carriers are going out of business left and right at the moment. Basically...know your cost of operation, lane rates and get direct freight or you won't make it more than a year."}

{"replyTo":"","text":"ah I gotcha was just curious. when I first bought a truck I ran from Sioux City Iowa to Houston every week. you might have even seen me, black 379 Pete pulling a stainless steel 48' spread axle reefer that the top and bottom rails and the unit were painted blue. sold  that trailer to a kid in Dallas that had a blue w900. \n\nI know when I ran that way I did pretty decent money wise usually around $2/mi another o/o that runs for the same guy I do runs that Texas round every week and lately every time I talk to him he's complaining about cheap loads coming back out of Texas. I think a lot of what he's bringing back is around that buck fifty mark you mentioned so might just be the trend down that way right now.","replyToPid":0}
