Your wife drives her hours out then starts her 34. (You have been off 10-11 already) then you sit for 1 day and when your 34 is up you start driving. When you finish your hours for that day your wife would have completed her 34 hour break. \n\nThis maximizes your hours plus gives you both a day off which is needed or you will burn yourselves out. {"replyToPid":0,"replyTo":"","text":"If you work 8-9 hours a day (including on duty time) you will never need to do a 34 hour break.\n\nOn the 8th day at midnight you get your total on duty and driving hours back from the oldest date. \n\nYou can see what you are getting back if you go on your elog. Depending which you use go to graphs then 8 days. It should display total hours for each day for the 8 days. It’s what dot wants to see when you get inspected. \n\nNow the oldest day is what you will get back on your 70. \n\nIt’s hard to explain through text and not showing you. Hope this helped. "}

{"replyTo":"","text":"9x8 is 72 so you need to work it out and work less for 2 of those 8 days. \n\n8x8 is 64 so if you keep your on duty and drive time a total of 8 hours everyday you will never need to take time off to reset your hours. ","replyToPid":0}

{"replyTo":"","text":"When I first became a driver the only company that had satellite communication was Schneider, so if you didn't work for them more than likely you were making daily \" check calls\" to update your location and available hours. My dispatcher would always ask \"Where are you old buddy?\" and then put me down for 8.75 hours used for the day. Once I asked him why he always entered 8.75 hrs for daily duty  and he said ^Old buddy - everybody was his buddy- you can work 8.75 hours every day for the rest of your life and never run out of hours\". If you mentioned being low on hours he would tell you to go in the truckstop and buy another 70. Yep, things were different in those days.","replyToPid":0}

{"replyTo":"","text":"Like someone commented above 8-9 hr shifts. Take that extra hour or 2 til the others 10hr reset and grab a meal together or shower. Rest. Sightsee. Etc. less stressful. And clock never needs to do a 34","replyToPid":0}
