California trucking company closes for good

{"text":"A California-based trucking company announced that they would be shutting their doors for good due to pressure from regulations and equipment costs.\n\nOn Friday, July 12, Ceres, California, based company Starlite Trucking announced that the company was closing “after 40 years of reliable and professional service to hundreds of clients in 11 Western states.” The closure is effective immediately, according to the announcement.\n\nThe company said that management told its 30 employees about the closure on Friday morning. {"replyTo":"","text":"California is running a budget surplus, business is good, I support California in protecting the working class from corporate exploitation. the issue with Swift and their fake owner operator gig is just like Ubers issue, they hire people as independent contractors to avoid all the employee protections. you are not an owner operator if you sign for Swift and have to run their loads exclusively, you are an employee, and that's what California is doing, forcing Swift and Uber to stop exploiting their workers and denying then the same protection as all other employees.","replyToPid":0}

Their regulations and their taxes are killing the industry in that state. \n\nNormally you wouldn’t care about California, but if they keep doing this they won’t have a strong trucking industry in the state. \n\nIt will be all outsourced from different states and even countries.
