{"replyToPid":0,"replyTo":"","text":"The FMCSA has been intentionally vague since the last round of requested comments. I would imagine that they are considering changing to a 16 hour rule instead of a 14 hour rule. This will help but not solve the core problems I think. They need to stop trying to squeeze all drivers into 2 boxes. Box 1 - Local Drivers (150 mile rule) Box 2 - Everybody else (70 hour)\n\nWe need 3 categories with there own governing rules. Local, Regional, and OTR. This will get the Day Cab drivers (UPS/Fedex/Etc) who want to go home at night at a decent hour out of the argument affecting Long Haul drivers. These two types of driving are nothing a like and the government should stop trying this one size fits all approach. OTR drivers need the ability to nap when tired without the fear that their day is screwed if they don't. The 70 hour cap exists because of the Regional drivers, not OTR. If I want to run 10 hours a day, 7 days a week in perpetuity....I should be able to. The 34 hour reset has no business in the OTR model.\n** Jumps Off Soap Box ** 😉"}
