10 Best Workouts For When You're On The Road

Being on the road can be hell for your exercise, sleep, and nutrition habits but that doesn't mean you should skip working out while traveling just because it's tough. Here are the best workouts for the road\n\nBlackjack\n\nMy favorite version of Blackjack goes like this:\n\n20 squats\n1 push up\n19 squats\n2 push ups\n18 squats\n3 push ups\n…\n4 squats\n17 push ups\n3 squats\n18 push ups\n2 squats\n19 push ups\n1 squat\n20 push ups\n\nBlackjack is more of a repscheme than any one specific workout. It's called Blackjack because the reps in each round add up to 21 (20 push ups + 1 squat, or 8 push ups + 13 squats). You decrease the reps in one movement while increasing the reps in the other movement and every round always equals 21 total reps between the two movements.\n\nWhile traveling, Blackjack is a quick and easy way to get in a dirty ass kicking workout. Try it with a combination of any of the following movements: lunges, sit ups, burpees, double unders, push ups, squats, backpack swings, or luggage snatches.\n\nAlmost Angie\n\nAlmost Angie is another of my favorite hotel room workouts. You simply need a towel and some space on the floor:\n\n100 push ups\n100 sit ups\n100 squats\n\nHotel JT\n\nAnother great hotel room workout, Hotel JT is a variation of one of the hardest upper body workouts in CrossFit:\n\n21-15-9\nHandstand push ups\nDips\nPush ups\n\nYou'll need some space on the wall and the floor for the respective push ups, and you can complete your dips old school style by using a desk, chair, or bedframe.\n\nTreadmill intervals\n\nMaybe your hotel has a fitness center and you wanna get your sweat on there. Every hotel fitness center I've ever seen has a treadmill and even though the treadmill is a remnant of the dreaded \"globo gym\" days, it's still a fantastic tool for some tough workouts. Try these intervals on for size:\n\n8 rounds of:\n2 minutes run\n1 minute walk\n*aim to use your mile pace for the run portions\n\nThe Devil's in the Double Unders\n\nIf you can travel with a jumprope, your on-the-road fitness options greatly expand. Try this doozy:\n\nEMOM 20:\nOdd minutes - 45 double unders\nEven minutes - 15 burpees\n\nDouble unders are also a great sub for running if you're looking to replicate some classic WODs:\n\n4 rounds of:\n2 minutes double unders\n50 squats\n\nTrust The Thruster\n\nThrusters are a curse gift from the fitness gods and they make everything worse better. Even if all you've got is a backpack or luggage with you, you can get your thruster on. Here's a favorite of mine:\n\n12 rounds of:\n40 seconds thrusters\n20 seconds rest\n*your goal here is to keep moving in a smooth, rhythmic pace throughout the entire 40 second interval.\n\nYou can also combine thrusters with pretty much anything to make a workout that'll deliver the goods:\n\n50-40-30-20-10\nDouble unders\nThrusters\n\nUse The Dumbbell, Dummy\n\nMost hotel gyms will have dumbbells up to 40 or 50lb, which is pretty much all you need for a solid session. Check out these suggestions from Project Nomad:\n\n42-30-18\nDumbbell snatch\nDumbbell goblet squat\n\nYou can use two separate dumbbells here, a heavier one for the snatch and a lighter one for the squats.\n\nIf you wanna get your sweat on while also getting your swole on, try this:\n\n3 rounds of:\n800m run on the treadmill\n25 dumbbell bench\n25 sit ups","pics":"[{\"description\":\"\",\"height\":465.0,\"name\":\"613661/ios_15500515138070.png\",\"url\":\"\",\"width\":828.0}]","canComment":true}
