{"replyToPid":0,"replyTo":"","text":"One break has to be at least 7 hours in the sleeper berth, the other has to be at least 2 hours off duty. together they must total 10 hours. If you spend 2 hours 45 min off duty, the sleeper berth break must be 7 hours 15 min. \n\nThis comes in handy if you spend too much time at the customer's dock, once you pass 2 hours, your 14 hour is extended, but if you drive past 14 hours from your start time that day, you will have to log in the sleeper berth when your day is done, or it will be an HOS violation. \n\nAny time I am at a customer and am not required to work, I am in the sleeper berth. If I am in the drivers seat, It may be considered on duty (some interpret waiting as on duty), but I can't be on duty if I am in the sleeper, and some interpret the regs as if you are physically in the sleeper, you must log sleeper berth. In fact, I log sleeper every night, you never know what's going to happen the next day.\n\nThe split sleeper can give you a lot more flexibility, if you don't want to hit rush hour somewhere, take a three hour nap. Also, if you are running split sleeper, you don't need your 30 minute break, so it can save time there."} |
