","text":"You can still order trucks with a standard transmission, or buy trucks before 2000 that won’t come with any DEF.\n\nPersonally, I’ve never been a fan of the manual transmission, so I am glad I never have to shift. As for the DEF, well, it was already in place when I started trucking in 2013. Strangely I never had DEF problems with trucks under 250k miles. I didn’t bump into DEF problems until I bought a used truck with 350k miles. ","replyToPid":438854}

{"replyTo":"","text":"When I started OTR driving it was life changing and a shock to my normal way of life. After about 2-3 months if you can stand it and not go crazy it gets better. Keep your mind busy learn your tractor/highways and don’t go to fast. It gets easier. I treat it like a paid vacation. I hit every state in my first year, chased the cattle haulers, listening to the old times talk about the worst mountains to drive. I’ve been across most all them to know where I won’t go and what time to go threw. Wyoming was best and worst state I’ve been threw. Winter is crazy. The wind is unforgiving, the freezing rain/wind is a life changer. But I wouldn’t change it for a desk job or swinging a hammer. ","replyToPid":0}

","text":"I had a chance to buy a 1986 379 long nose peterbuilt  with a cat engine for about $45,000. Only problem was the dang thing was pink. The guy driving said he bought it from his dad. Before he bought it his dad painted it pink. If I ever see that guy I’m try to buy it and have it painted. ","replyToPid":438856}
