{"replyToPid":0,"replyTo":"","text":"Make use of the “yard move” if available instead of actual drive time, this way you can drive more for the day. However, “yard move” still counts against your 70, so make sure you put it back on sleeper break as soon as you’re done with it. You can use yard move pretty much anywhere that is not a public road, but check with your company as they may have their own (stricter) policy.\n\nIf you can use PC, use it, but legally of course. So take advantage of it because it won’t count towards your 70 at all. Also, don’t abuse it because it can become a problem if a DOT were to inspect your logs. Unless you’re on time off, you shouldn’t be using PC every day. Maybe 1-2 times per week is okay, and save your receipts for further proof like you went to Walmart or McDonald’s, etc. \n\nWhen you’re backing up, put the truck on sleeper break. It actually doesn’t matter how fast you drive in reverse at least on the Omnitracs device. You can do 10 mph and it won’t change you to drive time, but then again, nobody is going to be reversing that fast. \n\nWhenever possible and practical, move the truck under 4 mph for short distances. There’s no need to put the truck on yard move or drive time if you’re moving just a bit, say, within a small shipper/receiver. And of course, be mindful of others, so if there’s a lot of traffic, you don’t want to be delaying everyone while you drive at 4 mph. "} |
