1071983 发表于 2021-06-13 14:15:26 Axle means nothing. They treat steer as a single axle nowadays. You can carry up to 20k on the steer IF you have tires rated for 20k. So look at the single tire weight rating on your steer tire sidewalls.
","text":"I’m sure the DOT might not look at the steer axle rating, but you’re telling me it’s wise to put 18,000 on a steer axle rated for 12,000? Most conventional semi trucks will have a steer axle rated for 12,000-13,000. Plus, these steer tires on conventional sleeper trucks certainly won’t be rated for 13,000.","replyToPid":428509}

Other states will allow more, but your equipment needs to tolerate the weight like your tires and the steer axle. "}

279311 发表于 2021-06-13 19:54:00 What tire size and brand do you have? You can’t possibly have a conventional sleeper truck. That’s gotta be a dump truck, a tow truck, or some kind of oversize load spec’d truck.

","text":"You’re right. I totally forgot about those H rated steer tires. A few mega fleets (like Crete) are using those H rated steer tires that actually need 110 PSI on them as opposed to the usual 100 PSI. On the sidewall of those tires, you’ll also see that the “cold PSI” is 120, while on the more common steer tires (G rated) it’s 110.","replyToPid":428691}
