Help me find an A/C solution without idle

{"text":"I may have posted this already. If I have, my bad. I have a carrier that wont blo*w cold but will bl*w hot and randomly turn off. When its simply on, it’ll run all night. Just put a new starter and belt in it. Mechanic is saying it could be alternator which would run me thousands but he isn’t certified so I should have a dealer diagnose it. Im looking at dumping more money into it or getting a new one for 8-13k. Its a 15 Freightleiner. I dont want to idle the truck. Any suggestions on what to do? Or alternatives? At a friend's advice I started shutting down the system when I started to drive instead of letting the override shut it down. That seemed to help. still does it now and then but less. He said, if you don't shut it off, fuel stays in the system so it gums things up. it took a while of me shutting it down for things to improve. It was having a hard time turning on the APU, too.  i had to get the apu started with an appliance, then atter it started i could unplug it. repair guy couldn't fix an intermittent error he said. When I had mine replaced in my carrier APU, I want to say it wasn’t more than $300, parts&labor. \n\n2) is the A/C shutting down the whole APU or just the HVAC? Like QueenofTruckin said, it could be your temperature sensor which is an easy, cheap fix. If it’s just HVAC shutting down, mine was a breaker on the board and was around $500 to replace the whole board","replyToPid":0}

","text":"Truck. I just wanted to convey what has been done to the APU. The alternator part Im passing on from my mechanic. As an aside I don’t much know about engines or mechanics of that sort; hence, why I am here. Any constructive input is very much appreciated.","replyToPid":57103}
