Trucking was fun, for the first two months. Now it’s just stressful to me. Traveling is fun but the level of responsibility placed on the drivers out here is simply too much. A lot of the stuff the trucking industry gets away with would make the mafia blush. There is no logical reason in 2020 trucks are still using drum brakes, the trucks NEED airbags in the steering wheel and doors, there should be 360 degree FOV cameras around EVERY trailer. These companies talk a big game about safety but out in the field the worship of the almighty dollar becomes their biggest concerns. If I ever become an engineer one day, I’ll make these trucks safer and add showers and toilets somehow to them without adding weight or compromising quality of life. There’s so much potential in the trucking industry for modernization and safety and it’s squandered over $$$$"} |
