Tips for saving money when over the road?

{"text":"I've noticed that I've spent nearly 400$ at truck stops this month alone. I only ever buy food or drinks and I dont feel I buy more than I need but 400$ a month is still to much for me. ","text":"Seriously? You’re criticizing someone who doesn’t want to pay $15-20 for a bunch of garbage and unhealthy truck stop food? I do very well as an O/O but I’m not going to waste my money that way. Mostly because my wife is an amazing cook and I really love heating up what she sends me, but also because I know what I’m eating and how it was prepared. And paid parking? Have you ever stopped to consider how much money they make on fuel? Especially when the big chains are charging $.20/gallon more than the no name places, even after discounts! Plus they have a huge volume buying ability, yet still sell higher and many many gallons a day. I suppose I should give them $4/gallon for windshield washer fluid, when it’s $1.78 at Walmart?"}

{"replyTo":"","text":"Yes, the best way to save money and to eat healthy is by preparing your own meals. I prefer it over going inside to get bland over priced food. Of course I never pass up a good Spanish food truck.. but otherwise I use a Toaster Oven, a fridge and freezer combo lurched at Walmart along with a crockpot and mini coffee maker. I love it. Yesterday I had spaghetti and garlic bread. Tonight cauliflower rice with lemon chicken is on the menu.. there’s no end to what can be prepared and cooked right inside the truck. A tip for clean up is to use plastic disposable crockpot liners, and aluminum throw away pans for the oven. Of course wet wipes are a truckers best friend. Just think out the box about your meals and enjoy. I spend about $200 a month on food and drinks.. ","replyToPid":0}

{"replyTo":"","text":"If you can.... Equip your truck with everything you need to cook and hit Walmart when you can and you won’t have to rely on truck stop food. I’ve never eaten at a truck stop, except for the few times I’ve had Carl’s Jr or Del Taco, but other than that I cook in the truck. I have a mini frig, microwave, toaster oven, skillet pan and an instant pot. Between those things I make some dang good meals for me and my husband and we don’t have to worry about what kind of food they’ll have or if they’ll have food at truck stops. And it’s healthier, too. I’d say we spend about $250 on food (for 2 people) a month, but that’s at a grocery store, usually Walmart or Fred Meyer. If you’re on the road full time I think it’s important to have your truck set up to do as much as possible for you. For ease of living but also for your health, both physical and mental.","replyToPid":0}

{"replyTo":"","text":"I spend about 100-200 a month, I got a thermo electric fridge and Amazon sells an awesome small fridge freezer i use  as a freezer, works great. got an air fried, coffee maker and electric skillet. works out great.  of course you have to have an inverter for these. company installed 1500 watt in their trucks which will run one appliance at a time.  they do make 12v as appliances too. save allot of money and you eat healthy","replyToPid":0}
