","text":"My new Rand McNally TND 540 only gets live traffic updates if it’s connected to the internet, such as my phone’s hotspot, but I don’t want to waste my data. My old backup Rand McNally 710 has an optional snap on antennae that gets live traffic updates from a satellite. The Garmin Nuvi Truck I borrowed from a friend has live traffic built in and doesn’t require any exterior accessories or internet connection and did a good job of getting me around Nashville traffic jams when I hauled local fuel there.
