I have considerably less stress and enjoy my alone time. It’s hard on a marriage, but frankly what isn’t. {"replyTo":"","text":"It was worth the jump for me, though I ended up getting divorced because being gone a lot was code word for the “ex bag of guts to cheat” but I’m a happier person for it, it can be hard being gone a lot, just like big daddy071708 said take your time an pick a good carrier, I took my time and am happy as a clam for the most part right where I am 😊, I prefer being alone so it’s a good job, there are definitely stressful times, but that comes with every career, if you don’t have the right personality and mentality you won’t make it, but if you do, you will probably find the same enjoyment as the rest of us do 🤓, that’s just my two cents","replyToPid":0}

{"replyTo":"","text":"ex CERT here..but didn't make the carrier change from there...\nthis is a rough industry...if you haven't a background of OTR in say last 3-5 yrs documented...your gonna need first find a company (won't be the greatest, mind you) to get your feet wet...\navoid Swift, CR England top two of my head....but then again...ya might need to join them...I just don't recommend them...\nokay... basically, if no current experience...even though you hold a CDL, class A all endorsements... definitely is a good thing...\nwhere are you located? \nmost companies might not have work in your said home base...\nnow, I'm a flatbed operator...my company is known as a second chance company... meaning it's hires are those who screwed up w/ another carrier...\nme, im a first timer...just finished 8months legally driving...mean yes been around big rigs thru towing industry...so I had gotten basics years prior...and the operation of the trucks systems and hands on repairing and recovery...\nyour gonna start at the bottom...so know that going in...but after you finish 3months on your own...you can look at another place in which, as in your case... your gonna have to most likely do a drivers training course... you'll be paired to a trainer driver...show you the ropes....we are assholes...some naturally...then like myself...have to be to make damn sure you don't become a swift/cr England type knumbnut and make YouTube 😂😂😂\neveryone is a super trucker...so ball busting is second nature...\nremember...you, if your this type of person...you want the best in being shown the ropes... so don't rush, and if the trainer is an idiot...just doing it for the money...get off the truck, request a new trainer...\nyour now gonna be an ex Co...so use your skills in seeing the bs'er...get shown it right...can not stress that enough","replyToPid":0}
